Aah....youth!
Aah...the innocence, ignorance and callousness of youth!
Don't get me wrong - am not completely on the other side of it yet. Am all young and vibrant myself. But by "Youth" I meant the post-teens and early twenties. The phase we all like to call as the best phase of our lives. That age has a certain attitude about it. It is the age where we believe we need nothing from anyone else and we have more to offer than anyone can take/give. It is the age when we think we can change the world (don't get me wrong again- we sure can change the world and at any age in life).
It is the age where we are but too innocent. Where we believe that the world is all pink and rosy and that life is as simple as we'd all like it to be. It is much later and with age -rather each passing day - that the knowledge, that the world isn't as fair and rewarding as we thought, corrupts and pollutes our passionate desire to revolutionize the world and its ways.
It is the age of ignorance. We are ignorant to the importance and significance of the society around us in our lives. As young minds we believe (I think the old albeit anti-social me still does) that we make the society and that the society doesn't make us. We don't care a dime about the society's rules and its boundaries.
It is the age that also makes us callous. We don't really care if we are stepping on someone's toes. Sometimes to the extent that our behaviour at times becomes quite rough and abrasive. We are ignorant about someone else's space but demand our own with all our might.
Aah...the colourful and carefree days of youth.
If you are wondering why this sudden burst of emotions about youth, then its inspired by a young couple I saw today evening at a shopping mall. They were much in love and carried that smitten look, too involved with each other to notice there were others around, ignorant about a few other more obviously (to me ofcourse) prominent things around, callous and carefree about talking aloud in the lift not bothering about someone else's space. Now now..don't you get me wrong again! I am not judging them or young people or anyone else. I just think that these are also some characteristics that identify a youthful couple along with some others like being energetic and self-righteous. And the thought made me smile and wonder!
