Letter to all the men out there....

Dear Men

I'd like to take a few minutes of your precious time (time that you so graciously spend finding faults with women around you and drawing conclusions about the fairer sex). Before I begin and since it has become evident from the last statement that I might be the perpetrator of the discrimination that I would like you to try and avoid, I'd also like to take a moment to apologize for any gross generalisations that I make here. It is just that I am a little irked with some of the 'specimens' of your sex who think that they have the birth right to judge every woman they come across.

Just because a woman takes her career seriously does not mean that she puts her love life and personal affairs at a lower priority. I would like to point out several studies that have been done that prove that women multi-task better. I wouldn't want to claim that I am better at multi-tasking than men but I do take pride in the fact that I can,in fact, do more than one task at a time. And juggling between office work and personal matters, according to me, is just how life goes. So, to people at work who blatantly claim that Indira Nooyi is not a good mother, 'phleaseee get a life!'.

To all the men who publicly and cheekily claim that women cannot drive, give us fairer sex some credit. It is not rocket science and we aren't as brain dead as you think.

To all the men who think that getting a wife is a solution to their filthy rooms and sad eating habits I'd like to suggest getting a maid. Trust me, a maid is way cheaper an option than a wife.

To all the men claiming (with a lot of sympathy and pity in their tone) that a woman has to keep her career on a lower priority for her husband and kids cause its an equation driven by who is more capable, if you think managing a household is a cake walk try swapping responsibilities with your wife for a week and then tell me how easy it was.

To all the men who proclaim I and some other women like me who are working (obviously the husband is also working -people around would have a heart attack if my husband ever decided to quit his job) have a great life - well, we do! But I can also tell you we work hard for it. My house is always in order. I manage office work pretty well. I have no one at home to do sundry tasks like getting the electricity bill paid or getting vegetables every week. My husband and I have to manage that along with our job.

To all those men who think that feminists are just women who regret not being born a man, really?? You think being you is so great! I am sorry to break your bubble but I quite like being me.

To all the men out there who treat us women as equals (I know for sure that there are men like that) I think you are a confident, self-assured person who plays a fair game. Hats off to you all cause I am sure it must not be easy being you, must not be easy being different from the rest.

I had long back accepted that chivalry is a forgotten concept. That meeting someone who is chivalrous is a miracle, a God gift to pep you up in life whenever you are feeling low or are in a dream. But, I have to admit that chivalry is a turn on. Meeting a man willing to fight or compete with a woman on equal footing is a turn on. While chauvinism is a huge turn off.
So, to all those chauvinist men out there, you aren't impressing anyone with those sarcastic, caustic jokes about a woman's lack of adeptness to do a certain task. You are just showing yourself in bad light.Get a life! Get real!

Regards
A member of the opposite sex.

Thanks, Arti di. Naah not planning a change of job. And if I do it won't be in writing for sure. I am trying to dabble with writing here but I think I have a long way to go before I can really do this seriously.

this blog, like i said earlier to you, is just a place to vent some of my thoughts, a medium to share some of my gyaan with some people around.

I am really glad you liked the post. It is gracious generous people like you and your encouragement that makes it worth the effort. :)
Cheers!
