Movie Review: The Notebook

I loved it. Based on the book of same name by Nicolas Spark this movie is a masterpiece. A movie that takes you on a journey that explores the love and life of two people, Allie and Noah, who fall in love, struggle to be together, get married and have children and grandchildren. With age Allie begins to lose her memory and can't recognize anyone from her past, not her kids, not herself and not even Noah.
Noah gives up his own life and stays with her at the hospital and reads a story to her everyday. He reads to her the same story everyday because there are times when this story brings back her memory for a few minutes and he can be with her again. The story he reads is the story of their lives together. But, that's not the only reason he reads it to her. Allie had penned down the story of their lives a long time back. On the front page of the diary she writs to Noah to read this to her when she is away and she would come back to him. And she does!
Lovers live together to spend and share their lives together. To be united even after death is something all lovers wish for. To live together and age together, become old together and finally to die together would certainly make a great love story.
The last scene when Noah sneaks into her room at night to meet her and she recognizes him is a touching moment. What truly is a masterpiece is the last scene where they go to sleep in her bed holding hands and cross over to the other world together.
